The Pearlwhisperer
Sammendrag
About the book Julius sits in his room, wanting to draw—but his colored pencils have stopped working. He feels scared and sad, trying hard to remember what his father just told him—something important, though the memory slips away. Suddenly, a girl appears inside the glass globe Julius received for Christmas from his grandparents. His mother once said it was magical, though Julius never believed her. Yet in the blink of an eye, he finds himself inside the globe alongside the girl, who tells him they must recover the lost “color forces” that once filled his pencils. Only then will Julius be able to remember his father’s words. Together, they set out on a journey where reality and fantasy intertwine, and nothing is quite what it seems. Will Julius find the color forces—and recall what his father said? What are color forces, anyway? And who is the mysterious Pearl Whisperer? Themes The Pearl Whisperer explores divorce through the eyes of a child. It is a story about the storm of emotions that live inside us, and the journey through them. Julius embarks on a long and perilous adventure to process his feelings about his father’s dramatic announcement—something he cannot remember at the start of the book, only that it hurts. He also wonders where his mother has gone. At the same time, The Pearl Whisperer is a story about the safety of friendship, and about how brave and wise two small children—and one rather moody parrot—can be. The Pearl Whisperer is the first book in the series about Julius. It is also available as an eBook. The second book in the Julius series is The Nightgarden. Written by Cathrine L. Wilhelmsen, with illustrations by Petter Winther.
