Sandvig was for many years uncritically pro-Israeli. The Palestinians pain and subjugation forced him to rethink the problems and realities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His articles and books aroused strong feelings of animosity among his opponents and he was blacklisted by his colleagues.
