Jacob Stolt-Nielsen

Colourful shipowner Jacob Stolt-Nielsen was born in the Norwegian port of Haugesund in 1931. At the age of 28, he created a new segment for chemical transport using medium-sized tankers - the parcel trade. Acquiring his first ship in 1959, he built up the world's largest chemical tanker company. He was also a pioneer in the offshore and aquaculture industries. His story provides a unique insight into an international business world influenced by an unusual Norwegian and his key employees.
