Letters home

During World War 2, John Ausland was an officer in the 29th Field Artillery Battalion of the 4th Infantry Division. After completing his formal education at Princeton University, he joined the Foreign Service. In addition to two tours in the State Departement, he was posted to Germany, Yugoslavia, Australia, Norway and Switzerland. A great deal of his work was concerned with military matters, including a tour with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In this book, John Ausland examines his war experiences against his later work with military matters as a civilian.
