Kjør

Kjør er en gruppe av øyer, holmer og skjær som ligger i Sola kommune, ytterst i havgapet. Dette er siste land før Nordsjøen, og områdene er vanskelig tilgjengelig for folk. Her finnes et mylder av sjøfugl, både sommer og vinter, og øygruppen inneholder det viktigste kaste- og hårfellingsområdet for havert på sørvestlandet. I 1982 ble området naturreservat under navnet Kjørholmane. Denne boka er laget for å gjøre folk oppmerksomme på hva som finnes i våre nærområder, slik at vi alle skal bli bedre i stand til å respektere og ta vare på de naturverdiene vi omgir oss med. Den prisbelønnede naturfotografen Roy Mangersnes står for alle illustrasjonene i boka. Kjør is a group of islands, islets and reefs which lie in the Sola district in Rogaland, at the outmost edge of the sea mouth. It is the last land before the North Sea and the area is not easily accessible to people. There are a multitude of sea birds to be found there, both in summer and winter, and the group of islands contains one of the most important areas for grey seals in the south of Norway. In 1982 the Kjør Islands was established as a nature reserve. If such areas are to be preserved, we all have a responsibility to take care of and protect all aspects of these ecosystems. To do that it is important to know what we are surrounded by. This book is a contribution to that. The awardwinning photographer Roy Mangersnes is the creator of all the photos in the book.
